KARACHI: The Government of Pakistan have decided to seal the Sind-Jodhpur border, it was authoritatively learnt in Karachi on Saturday [May 13]. The decision, it is understood, has been taken to stop the uninterrupted influx of refugees from Bharat into Sind via Khokropar. The date with effect from which the border is to be sealed is expected to be announced by the Government shortly. Not even permit-holders, it is learned, will be allowed to cross the border after it has been closed.

It is, however, believed by knowledgeable circles that the border would be unsealed once the present influx stopped and normal conditions were restored. The geographical features of the border and the areas surrounding it, with nothing but desert covering large distances, will prove of great help to the Government in sealing the border, which is expected to take the form of closing known points of entry.

The Government … are believed to be in correspondence with the Government of Bharat in this connection, and it is hoped that in view of the Delhi Agreement the former would receive full co-opertion of the latter in carrying out the decision.
