RAWALPINDI: A man who was abducted for Rs20 million ransom in March by unidentified kidnappers after he left for his home in Sukkur was found dead in Kashmore Katcha area on Wednesday, police said.

After the recovery of Agha Sohail Ali Khan’s body, the police concerned from Kashmore Sindh contacted the R.A. Bazaar police as from his pocket a driver’s licence bearing the name of Agha Sohail Ali Khan a resident of Tench Bhatta Rawalpindi was found, police said.

After reviewing the police station record, the R.A Bazaar police have found that the deceased was the same person who had been kidnapped for ransom in March, 2024. Later, a police team was dispatched to Kashmore to bring the body of the victim back.

According to police sources, the kidnappers were in contact with the family of the abducted person and initially they demanded Rs20 million for his release from his family and later reduced it to Rs10 million.

Agha Babar Ali, a resident of Tench Bhatta, lodged an FIR with the R.A. Bazaar after his father Agha Sohail Ali Khan, 70, left his house for Sukkur on March 5, 2024 and went missing till his body was found by the police in Kashmore on Wednesday.

Babar Ali said in the FIR that his father left his house for Sukkur on March 5 as his brother Agha Muzamil Mujtaba Khan accompanied his father to the Rawalpindi Railway Station to see him off .

He said the next day his father informed his friend Amjad that he had reached Sukkur safely. He further said that after he found his father’s mobile phone switched off, his brother asked Amjad if his father had any conversation with him, he replied that his mobile phone was found switched off.

He further told the police that his father was processing ATM cards of different banks, CNIC and a driving licence with him when he left his house.

His father was wearing a Shalwar Kameez, gray waistcoat and brown shoes when he left for Sukkur. Following his complaint, the RA Bazaar has registered an FIR under section of kidnapping (365 PPc and launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, SSP Investigation Zunaira Azfar directed the police investigating officer to ensure timely completion of cases challan.

She was presiding over a meeting at Police Lines Headquarters.

The officers assigned to follow up cases and enforcement staff participated in the meeting.

SSP Investigation gave instructions to the officers regarding the compliance of summons and warrants.

The SSP further directed that all legal requirements must be met for the punishment of the accused.
