KOHAT: The Shakardarra police busted a four-member gang of highway robbers that had looted Rs7.5 million from a gold dealer on gun point on Kohat-Shakardara Road, and also recovered a major amount from them.
DSP Saddar Sanober Khan, while addressing a press conference, said that the district police officer, Dr Zahid Ullah, took serious notice of the robbery and ordered early arrest of the accused and recovery of the amount.
The DSP added that on the night of July 12, one Tanveer Anjum had reported that armed men who were on two motorcycles snatched Rs7.5 million from him, when he was on his way home.
The DSP, Shakardarra Sajjad Haider, along with SHO Irfan Khan initiated inquiry on scientific lines and held Qasim, Adil, Mishal Khan and Mehmood and recovered two Kalashnikovs, one M4 rifle and two motorcycles from them, while an amount of Rs5.6 million was also recovered that was hid at different places.
During preliminary interrogations, the robbers said that they had spent the remaining amount on purchasing a new Honda motorcycle and an iphone.
Sanober Khan added that one of the accomplices, Asim had not been arrested as yet and declared him a proclaimed offender.
BOY DROWNS: An 18-year-old boy drowned in Indus River in the Khushalgarh area of Kohat on Thursday.
The victim was identified as Tayyab. A search for the body has been launched.
It was fifth such incident reported in a month in the flooded Indus River at Khushalgarh despite strict ban on taking bath under Section 144.
Despite the efforts of the Rescue 1122 divers’ bodies of all the five boys had not been found yet.
Meanwhile, a body was found floating in the river the other day whose picture was displayed on WhatsApp groups for identification.
The body has been kept in the mortuary of the KDA divisional headquarters hospital.
