TOBA TEK SINGH: Faisalabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court Special Judge Javed Iqbal Sheikh adjourned the hearing of cases filed under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act against 40 Pakistan Tehreeki-Insaf (PTI) leaders and activists.
The hearing, originally scheduled for Monday, was postponed until Oct 22 after the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) submitted supplementary challans on Oct 7.
The court has issued summons for all the accused to appear in person on the next hearing date.
The list of accused includes prominent PTI leaders such as Umer Ayub, Zartaj Gul, Shibli Faraz, Azam Swati, Semabia Tahir, Sadaqat Abbasi, Jamshed Cheema, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Kanwal Shouzeb, Aliya Hamza and Farah Agha.
PTI leaders’ lawyer told reporters that none of the 40 leaders and activists were present in court as only the challans were presented at the previous hearing.
The court has now scheduled Oct 22 to formally begin hearing of the cases.
