LAHORE: An interdisciplinary arts organisation has announced the culmination of its 10th annual summer camp by staging an original Urdu play, Haajra Ka Maajra, on Sunday, July 13, at the Alhamra Arts Council, The Mall.

The play, an original theatre production by children, promises a suspense-filled evening performed entirely by the talented young participants of this year’s camp organised by OLOMOPOLO Media, which has completed a decade of running its yearly summer camps.

Over the years, the camp has explored themes as diverse as climate action, digital fatigue, gender equality in storytelling, animal rights, anti-war narratives, Punjabi-language folklore, and the wonders of ancient civilisations.

This year, the campers were divided into two age-based groups -- Jantar and Mantar. Group ‘Jantar’, comprising children aged 4–8 years, engaged in hands-on visual arts like block printing, mosaics, marble painting and clay reliefs, along with life skills such as sewing, gardening, yoga, and mindfulness.

The children in group ‘Mantar’, 9–14 years of age, explored theatre and storytelling through character work, movement, voice and improvisation, paired with music sessions on group singing, vocal play and songwriting.

The camp also welcomed interns who took part in creative workshops while learning leadership and arts management. The play is written by Farjad Nabi and directed by Kanwal Khoosat, Vicky Zhuang Yi-Yin, Nida Malik & Fatima Asad. Fyque Nadeem is art director, while music is composed by Agha Haider and the pay is produced by Asil Baqa.
