LAKKI MARWAT: A man set his wife on fire after sprinkling petrol on her in the Nurar area of Bannu, the police said on Monday.

They said they had arrested the suspect, identified as Bakhtullah.

Umer Sher, father of the deceased, told police that he was at home when someone informed him that her daughter, Sabila Bibi, 20, had been shifted to the Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital as she was not feeling well.

He said when he along with relatives reached the hospital he found his daughter lying dead there. “Later I came to know that my daughter had been severely tortured before being burnt by her husband after sprinkling petrol on her,” he claimed.

The suspect was arrested by Miryan police.
