UNDERAGE DRIVING

Published January 30, 2024

UNDERAGE DRIVING: Underage driving is strictly prohibited due to the risks associated with it. However, the provincial government in Balochistan has failed to execute the policy effectively. Teenagers drive vehicles without licence, violate the law, and put lives at risk, including their own. Unfortu-nately, the issue has been overlooked by the authorities. Recently, an accident took place in Lahore in which a family lost six lives when an underage driver was unable to control the vehicle he was driving. The authorities concerned should take strict action against underage driving in every part of the country.

SOLAR PANELS: Instead of spending a huge amount of money on branding and outdoor marketing campaigns, solar panel companies should invest more in socially responsible initiatives. They should contribute to society and empower communities by installing free solar panels in under- privileged localities, schools and hospitals. These companies make huge profits by selling inexpensive equipment at exorbitant prices to cover the heavy expenditure they make in terms of marketing. They should help the needy by providing free solar panels to them.

SHORTAGE OF TEXTBOOKS: The shortage of textbooks in schools not only obstructs students’ academic performance, but also sparks inequality in education. The data acquired from the School Training and Education Division shows that almost two million textbooks related to a variety of disciplines are short in supply. Almost 50 per cent of the students in each class do not have access to a textbook for the last four months. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds are particularly affected, as they often lack access to resources outside the classroom. This exacerbates the existing educational differences, and massively hinders the ability of the students to reach their full potential.
