Withdrawal of GPA system

Published March 14, 2009

THIS is apropos of Rabia Rahim's letter, '' (March 8). We basically go to an educational institution to acquire knowledge, but if the main goal is not being achieved, there's no need to go there.

When during an examination 15 to 20 boys enter the hall, snatch the paper, tear it and threaten the students, what does this mean?

Above all, when anyone resists or criticises the action, he is beaten. Teachers too are threatened. The attackers create further chaos and panic by throwing out the chairs.

This was the time the university was sketching a scene of an unruly marketplace. As usual there was a weak security or no security. Thousands of children were left high and dry.

These attackers are being backed by political parties. They have no concern with education. If somebody has some problem with the GPA system or mid - term examination, he should go for some proper and fair means to resolve the problem.

The university authorities should hold discussion with all quarters concerned to resolve the problem. Also, the community should rethink and help students who are suffering immensely. It is a humble request to save our future and time.
