ISLAMABAD: Three suspects were injured in an encounter with the capital police while three others managed to escape, police said.

The incident took place near Sohan during the early hours of Monday. The Khanna police have registered a case under sections 324, 353, 186, and 411 of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with sections 13 and 20 of the Arms Ordinance.

A nine-member police team armed with weapons, including SMGs, spotted six persons and two motorcycles in the wooded area adjacent to Sohan while patrolling on the Expressway. On suspicion, the police team moved towards them.

Witnessing a police team, the suspects started indiscriminate firing at the security personnel, hitting constables Ihtasham Ullah and Kashif’s bulletproof jackets, hence they remained unhurt.

During the firing, three suspects sustained bullet injuries from the firing of their accomplices and fell.

The other three suspects escaped from the spot on a motorcycle. Later, the police took the three injured suspects into custody and recovered a 30-bore pistol from each of them. They were the residents of the different areas of Islamabad.

The police also recovered a mobile phone from one of the injured, which was later found robbed on October 18 at Ghori Town Phase 5 and over the robbery a case was registered at Khanna police station already. The motorcycle used by the suspects was also a stolen one.
