QUETTA: Caretaker Information Minister Jan Achakzai has claimed that protesters who are currently holding a camp in Islamabad for the recovery of missing persons are “related” to the “terrorists” who were killed as a result of strikes by Pakistani forces in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Mr Achakzai claimed that the terrorists’ relatives “are present in the camp in Islamabad”.

Those associated with terrorist organisations are conspiring against Pakistan, the provincial information minister added.

He also hailed the “effective response” of the armed forces against the elements “challenging Pakistan’s security and sovereignty”.

He added that the action gave a message to the enemy that Pakistan will not compromise on its security and integrity.

Mr Achakzai said the protest was “a drama” staged by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee and female leaders.

The demonstration has “completely failed” and was an “attempt to mislead Pakistanis,” he claimed.

He reiterated that the issue of missing persons is being resolved and that Dr Mahrang Baloch, who is leading the protesters, attempted to mislead people.

He further claimed that after failing to create turmoil in Balochistan, the enemy forces are “now attempting external interference”.

The minister, however, affirmed that these enemies “will never succeed in their conspiracies”. He revealed that Baloch individuals who have been playing into the hands of India have surrendered, seeking national engagement in the mainstream.
