TOBA TEK SINGH: Punjab primary and secondary healthcare department secretary on Saturday suspended Gojra Tehsil Headquarters Hospital medical superintendent (MS) from service for allegedly making an attempt on the life of district health authority CEO and threatening him of dire consequences through WhatsApp messages.

The secretary directed the suspended MS, Masood Virk, to report immediately to the department in Lahore, appointing Gojra Deputy District Health Officer Dr Bilal Tahir as acting MS of the THQ hospital, who assumed the charge on Saturday.

Meanwhile, CEO Dr Kashif Mahmood Kamboh has submitted a written application with Toba city police for registration of a case against Dr Masood Virk for hurling life threats at him and visiting his office and residence with an intent to attack him.

ARRESTED: A Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration circle team foiled an attempt by a murder suspect to flee abroad, arresting him from Multan airport on Friday night.

An FIA spokesperson said the suspect, Dr Muhammad Amjad, was wanted for his alleged involvement in the murder of a woman in Hafizabad and his name was in the stop list of the interior ministry.

He said the suspect, after his arrest from the Multan airport, was handed over to Hafizabad police.

According to the FIR registered against Amjad, he had allegedly poisoned to death a nurse who worked at his private clinic.

The nurse, in her dying statement to Hafizabad police, had said the suspect had promised to marry her. She said when she insisted that he should fulfill his promise, the suspect gave her poison.
