TOBA TEK SINGH: A man allegedly tortured his eight-year-old son to death over his refusal to help him in farm work at Gojra on Friday evening.

District police spokesperson Attaullah said Muhammad Akmal was with his father Shabbir at Chak 97-JB farmland. He said Shabbir beat his son with a wooden bar over his refusal to work. The child died on the spot.

Police claimed to have arrested the suspect.

POISONED: A woman was allegedly poisoned to death at a relative’s house at Chak 336 GB on Thursday night.

Zafar Iqbal informed police that his mother-in-law Shamshad Bibi had gone to see her relative Salamat Bibi at Chak 336-GB where someone served her poisonous food. She died after some time.

The Rajana police shifted the body to the rural health centre for autopsy.
