LONDON: Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) prime minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry said on Monday that “Million March” will be held on October 26 in London as scheduled for seeking a just and peaceful resolution of longstanding Kashmir issue.
Addressing a rally in London’s Walthamstow, he said the Indian government was afraid of the march and was making efforts for its cancellation but Indian demand has been rejected by the British government to uphold freedom of expression in the United Kingdom (UK).
Barrister Sultan said instead, the British government has urged India and Pakistan to settle Kashmir issue through meaningful dialogue as it has become a flash point between the two neighbouring countries.
The PPP leader emphasised that it was mandatory on Pakistani and Kashmiri expatriates in Britain to participate in the “Million March” with enthusiasm for making it a successful event.
The public rally was chaired by Chaudhary Dilpazir while former Mayor Liaquat Ali, Qamar Raza Shah, Former Member Kashmir Council, Chaudhary Hameed Pothi, Labour Party's Chaudhry Shaukat, Chaudhary Mehboob, Raja Yasin, Fehmida Warsi, Najma Shaheen, Saeed Bhatti, Chaudhary Tabrez and others spoke on the occasion.
The public gathering expects to see thousands of people rally through central London in protest against India's human rights violations in Kashmir.
The rally on October 26 will begin at London's Trafalgar Square and end at Prime Minister David Cameron's office at 10 Downing Street where a petition would be submitted asking Britain to push India into resolving the Kashmir gridlock.

No amount of pressure is going to redraw boundaries in Kashmir esp the weapon of terrorism by state and state-aided-non-state players. It looks like Pakistan has lost all hope trying to influence US and UK politicians to bring a resolution or put pressure on India so they are trying to mobilize Muslims in the west to achieve their goals. But if India mobilizes it's rich immigrants in US and UK, you know just few weeks before our Prime minister was treated like a rock star in Madison square garden by overseas Indians, we can completely dwarf these protests with pure money power.

Kashmir issue is key to the peace in sub-continent region. India needs to realise that Kashmir cannot be taken forcefully. How can one trust a neighbour who doesnt honour its words, dating back to Nehru's promise of peblecite and the UN convention of 1940-50. Above all, in Kashmir the atrocities Indian Armed Forces have carried out are beyond imagination. These human rights violation needs to be brought to the forefront of international political agenda. India can and is prospering, but the threat looming from its nuclear armed neigbour due the Kashmir issue is truly hindering & holding it back. In case of another low\high intensity conflict, the consumer and investor confidence will quickly evaporate, so India for its own benefit, nor for Pakistan's sake, needs to resolve this as per the UN resolution. And if India is working towards making Pakistan a failed state, that is even more risky as one can imagine what a deperate person\state can do. I hope my Indian citizens & Government give some heed to this thought. Remember its not just about Kashmir, its also about Kashmir, India & Pakistan.

if indeed there is any measure of success for this enterprise, it will actually have a deeply counter productive effect on the mind of the people and government in the UK. Entirely defeating the purpose of the undertaking.
If it fails, as most likely will. It will expose the hollowness of the pakistani agenda and lead to a more rapid decline in the brand equity and cohesion of the pakistani lobby in the UK.

Looking at the comments from Indian contributors i am ROFL. I see how raising the issue of Kashmir creates a panic with Indians and their government. Just goes to show that India knows whatever it is doing in Kashmir is in violation of international laws and is against the UN resolutions. I think Pakistanis and their government should support this march by Kashmiris. I think we have found India's weak point and we should not let go till we have resolved the issue.
For INDIANS, who keep bringing up Balochistan and the independent Kashmir, please consider the following
1. First get a resolution passed in UN on Balochistan. Balochistan is not a disputed territory and there have been no human rights violations. There are no black days in Balochistan on the Pakistan independence day.
2. As for the Pakistan side of Kashimir, there are no dharnas by Kashmiris against Pakistani government and there are no human rights violations. If you ever get a chance to visit muzzafarabad or any other part of Pakistani side of Kashmir you will notice what kind of prosperity thrives there.
It is about time Indians started to realize that you cannot go against the will of the people as history has proven.

@Abhishek Balochistan is a province of Pakistan. Kashmir is internationally acknowledged as disputed territory which both India and Pakistan claim in full. No other country claims Balochistan (if one were to, it would be Iran). This does not mean that Islamabad does not need to address the legitimate grievances of the Baloch. However, the Balochistan and Kashmir issues are different.

Why Pakistanis go mad at the very word Kashmir ? The reason is - Once Pakistan gets Kashmir, every problem would disappear. Suddenly, Pakistan would become polio free (in fact, disease free) and terrorism free country. Every Pakistan would get a job, if not two. All political leaders will become honest, sincere and hard-working (yeah, not hardly working). Dams would be automatically built, power surplus is achieved and agricultural yield triples. Suddenly roads are laid even in the most remote areas (also, from bedroom to Kitchen, just in case a rich Pakistani decides to drive in his home) and Thar desert turns into teak and Sandalwood forest. Karachi becomes the new Silicon valley, Lahore is the new manufacturing hub and Peshawar, the pharmaceutical hub of Asia. Also, an unmanned and a manned Lunar mission as well as a Mars orbiter missions will be blasting off (with a gap of an hour) within a day of getting Kashmir.

Don't stop with just a rally, organize a sit in in London till UK PM rushes to India to discuss Kashmir. Not just in London, hold rallies and sit-ins in every capital city of world. Ensure that all the government heads in the world are in New Delhi to discuss Kashmir issue. That would leave Narendra Modi with no option but to run on foot to Islamabad (to escape the visiting leaders).

There is no million man march to support Edhi, there is no million man march to get rid of Polio, there is no million man march to get rid of extremism and militancies. where do these people get educated? Where are their priorities and common sense?

@Abhishek There is no comparison between the two. Kashmir and Balochistan issues are totally different. Kashmir is a disputed territory and the world including UN recognizes it as such. Balochistan is an internal problem of Pakistan. There are some disgruntled Baloch nationalists who talk about separation but majority of Baloch are patriotic Pakistanis. If the leaders of separatist groups in self-exile abroad decide to talk to the government then their own brothers or close family members will be sitting across the table.

@Muhammad I just wrote a comment which they did not publish. Go read the UN resolution. It had asked Pakistan to vacate Kashmir, get their forces out and then have a plebiscite. Pakistan never complied. they knew that if they vacated Kashmir that they had taken, they will have nothing left, very smart. Also if they had plebiscite at that time, even the Kashmiri muslims would have voted to stay with India.

This is crazy at best. A Kashmiri in India can move anywhere in the country, stand for election, become the PM. What is independence, even if it makes sense, bring to them? They will end up spending on building another army, air force, and perhaps even a navy! They will have a Kashmir Airlines that will lose money. Freedom and Independence makes sense if one is prevented from doing something in life. I don't understand Pakistan supporting Kashmiris. They could not even keep their E Pakistan. They are busy practicing religious intolerance to the extreme, busy killing each other, terrorizing their women. It would be best if they accept status quo are permanent solution and work for their people's progress.
