Highly stressed Musharraf lands in ICU, court appearance unlikely

ISLAMABAD: Former president, General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) after his condition deteriorated due to high stress, DawnNews reported on late Sunday night.

Meanwhile, non-bailable arrests warrant for the former dictator have been issued in case he fails to appear before the court on Monday for the hearing of a treason case against him.

The arrest warrant was delivered at the AIFC on Saturday.

Talking to DawnNews, his lawyer Rana Ijaz said that he was informed by Musharraf's staff that the former general has been shifted to the ICU.

Musharraf is said to be severely stressed following the illness of his mother who is currently hospitalised in Sharjah after suffering respiratory issues.

He was stressed out after hearing about his mother's ill health and this led to an increase in his blood pressure, sources said.

Meanwhile, sources close to Musharraf said that he will appear in court as soon as he feels better.

Security plans finalised

A security plan has been finalised for Musharraf's possible court appearance in the treason case today (Monday).

Sources said that over 2,000 police and security personnel including special branch officials, commandos and Rangers will be on duty.

Former information minister Pervez Rasheed said that Musharraf is currently under the court's custody and only the court will decide his future.

This court led by a quack of a judge have done to this hero of Pakistan, president Gen Pervez Musharaf, what the enemies of Pakistan could not do. And the brave soldiers still fights on. If his mother dies without Gen Musharaf being able to see her, than Pakistan will not forgive Nawaz sharif and this heinieous and vindictive act of his will carry right upto his grave. They all have to answer to the almighty one day.

Now he is rushed to ICU, general (retd) has found another excuse to avoid appearance in the court- better release him & send him to 'self imposed exile'. Sharif family had its vendetta, enough is enough.

In ICU because of stress and high blood pressure, now that's an appropriate admission! If he's too unwell to travel from AFIC to court, then travel to Sharjah is just OUT OF THE QUESTION, isn't it?

The real story behind the scenario is not healthy. He is delaying the day of facing the music. Most of us of his age but abysmal resources have lost our mothers, a natural phenomena, but we never made that an excuse to answer the legal charges against us, why should he? Clever delaying tactics would not go on for ever, would it ? Sorry , not impressed.

Interesting!!!!!! When will our NS learn that Musharraf will never be produced in the court for indictment by the military. For this Pakistan has to have a strong leadership who have shown the nation that they are capable and are giving good governance which the current leadership lacks. The need to learn from Turkey that only when they deliver only then they can tame the military. They are bunch of incapable leaders who ahve become the rulers by virtue of lots of money and biradri connections.

One can sympathize with Musharraf for his 'stress following the illness of his mother'. Does Musharraf have any feelings for the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and children of the Baloch victims of the ABDUCT-TORTURE-KILL-DISFIGURE-AND-DUMP IN MASS GRAVES -PROJECT which he masterminded?

If the Taliban murderers are being released in thousands, why not release this poor man who has been living in a virtual house-arrest. He has done so much for the country. Show some humility and compassion for this sick man. I think that message to future dictators is now clear and the purpose has been achieved. Forgiveness is always better than revenge.

I don't understand why the word dictator is being used for President Musharraf. He was once the President of Pakistan who was loved by an overwhelming majority of people. Now all of a sudden we are using such foul language against him is beyond belief. I personally don't think that he was a dictator as he did a lot of good things for Pakistan when in power. At least he was miles better than Zardari and Nawaz Sharif. Please use better words next time as you don't want to hurt someone's feelings and emotions.

What a disgrace not just to the army but to the human race this individual is! Doing his best to evade justice by hiding behind his mother rather than face the court and try and defend what he said on national TV ("I an Pervaiz Musharraf and I have abrogated the constitution" or something like that) when he still had the ability to order the military around. All that bravado is gone and the real coward who has done so much damage to Pakistan emerges.

I an ordinary Pakistani request to all Pakistani to protest against the court, Govt and all individuals who are responsible for this injustice towards the the Musharraf as he is the hero of the Pakistan & a very respected person & also very honest. The people who looted the mony are ruling the Pakistan it is a itself shame for Pakistani masses. God forbid if any thing happen to his mother or to him we will sue to all the people who are responsible for this situation because it is purely a humanitarian matter & he should be allowed to see his mother regardless of any thing. My sincere advise to govt that masses are much stronger than Govt so they should behave like educated & civililised society but unfortunately Govt is itself unconstitutional as all legislator are non qualified people & illletrate.

He had the commando energy to rule fist-fully the country for 12 years first uniformed, then informed and then misinformed and make the coup and control. Then he become more informed and assumed a luxurious life after retirement and then lectures, books and penthouses in Dubai Burj Towers. Anyhow, I read the Prophet PBUH said when asked what is the best dua one can do -- his pbuh short reply was ALLAHUMMA SALLIM -- meaning Oh Allah grant us salaamati from head to toe so we can carry on our life and mission. He pbuh also mentioned this dua can get you sehat and if you are bodily well you can do all that is possible. So a prayer for the ex President and may he get well soon and the same for his respected elderly mother. May Allah Grant both Salamati and sehat amen. This prayer is for anyone and inshaullah should benefit all the Ummah anytime. With faith we have to ask for it often.

@Chakwal wala: Dear Chakwal wala saheb, even if so, he must come and face the court. After all isn't he branded as a "Brave and fearless Commando" by Kasuri ? His lawyers are too strong to save him from punishment but by not allowing to be charge-sheeted it is clear that the lawyers also feel that the case is strong enough to go against their client, and so these delaying tactics. Wouldn't it be better for lawyers to let the court proceeding go ahead and then use their tools to try and save Mush from punishment ?
