Nisar presents preliminary report on Ziarat attack in NA

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday presented a preliminary report on the attack on Jinnah’s Ziarat residency in the National Assembly.

Speaking on the floor of the House, the interior minister said a joint investigation team had been constituted to investigate the attack on the building in which the Quaid-i-Azam spent the last days of his life in 1948.

The Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the strike.

Nisar said two of the security guards posted at the Ziarat residency had been taken in for questioning.

The minister also asked as to why the guards failed to inform the police upon hearing suspicious noises indicating that an attack was taking place.

The bombing sent a wave of shock and horror among the populace in Ziarat, a quaint and quiet place which hitherto knew nothing of bomb explosions.

Ziarat, located at more than 2,500 metres above sea level and surrounded by Juniper trees, is a popular tourist site. The two-storey residency was built in 1892 and formerly used by representatives of the British government in India.

Dear C.N.Khan,I hope that your ministry will take the matter seriouly and Publish the JIT report if you will not do it like previous reports,it is very easy to blame BLA or any other organisation that have played the role in this incident,but who ever is involved in this criminal act should be bring to justice,you have taken two poor security guards for invistigation,that is right for the invistigation,but this is alarming for every pakistani,if there is will you will control the situation otherwise the situation will remains the same as it was since last 40 years,you should solve the problem on National interest not at your own interest

Whether it is preliminary or final, please make it public. The citizens have a simultaneous right to know what is going on and not exclusively the National Assembly, that is composed of corrupt and lawless occupants. Salams

Alas, what an unfortunate nation who at the minimum cannot even save the memoirs of their (great) founding father - shame indeed. It was an enormous pain to hear about the siege on great Quaid's house- I really cannot express it in words. He always remain in our hearts... Quaid-i-Azam Sahab. we always love you, and such incidents will only extend our closeness to you.

Before reconstruction, of the Ziarat residence, a frank debate should take place. What would be the sense in re-construction, if those responsible, for this attack, are far more determined, more capable than those who are assigned to its security and safety. Why cannot those who are in power, cannot realize that they are others who think otherwise, and have the capacity to prove it. Why waste government resources. Wait be patient, and when the Balochistan issue is calmed, if and when, then contemplate the reconstruction. There are more important reconstruction, projects to be undertaken.
