LAHORE:Former Pakistan football team captain Masood-ul-Hassan died after a protracted illness here on Monday. He was 80.

Masood, who played as a defender, represented Pakistan from 1955 to 1962. After his retirement, he remained affiliated with the game, working as coach of Sports Board Punjab, besides heading the national selection committee from 1984 to 1986.

Pakistan Football Federation president Faisal Saleh Hayat and secretary Col Ahmad Yar Lodhi have expressed their deep condolence over the sad demise of Masood.
