KARACHI, Jan 20: Four new complaints centres set up by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board for quick redressal of people's complaints during Eidul Azha holidays have started functioning from Thursday.

Meanwhile, the complaint centre already working at KWSB Head office has been made more effective. This centre would now function 8am to 12am while the other four centres would be in action in three continuous shifts.

Telephone number of this main complaint centre is 9231221. Complaints relating to Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Shah Faisal, Malir, Korangi, Landhi, Gadap and Bin Qasim Towns can be registered on tel 9230717.

The complaints from Liaquatabad, New Karachi, Gulberg and North Nazimabad Towns would be attended on telephone number 6982292.

The complaints from Saddar, Lyari, Keamari and Jamshed Towns would be attended on telephone numbers 9215064 and 9204346.

Meanwhile, the complaints from SITE, Orangi and Baldia Towns would be attended on telephone number 2567850.

The KWSB MD Brig, Iftikhar Haider, visited these centres on Thursday and appealed to masses not to throw offal of sacrificial animals in manholes and directed the engineers to keep a vigilant eye at sewerage lines and redress the complaints immediately.

Meanwhile, a KWSB spokesman said that repeated power breakdown at Paracha Pumping Station and Saudabad Pumping Station affected supply in many areas of Baldia and Malir, but the KWSB was trying to make alternate arrangements. -APP/PPI
