SWABI, Feb 22: The National Database and Registration Authority’s swift registration centre here has failed to deliver the national identity cards in time.

Several people told Dawn on Thursday that they had not received the cards several months after submitting the applications. Several of them complained that they had been asked by Nadra staff to apply for the cards afresh.

Sher Ali Khan and Junaid Khan, who work abroad, said they had applied for urgent issuance of the cards but they had been directed to apply again as the previous applications had been misplaced.

Baswar Ali of Maneri Bala complained that the applicants had to stand in a long queue and the attitude of the staff with them was rude. An official, when contacted, said: “We have to check the record and ensure that the data is entered correctly.
