RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Day was celebrated in the garrison city with special events, including a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC).
A large number of citizens, artists, students and people from different walks of life attended the event. The chief guest of the ceremony was Punjab Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Shazia Rizwan who hoisted the national flag.
The event was also attended by officials of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Speaking on the occasion, they said Pakistan Day teaches the golden principles of unity, faith and discipline and that collective efforts are essential for the country’s progress and stability.
In their addresses, the speakers said March 23 is a significant milestone in national history, reminding the nation of the great sacrifices of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders. They reiterated the commitment that, as a nation, people must realise their responsibilities and play an active role in the development and prosperity of Pakistan.
During the ceremony, patriotic songs were presented and national flags were distributed among participants, further enhancing the spirit of patriotism.
At the end of the ceremony, special prayers were offered for the country’s peace, stability and progress, seeking Allah’s blessings for the nation’s prosperity and harmony.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Rawalpindi and Islamabad Dr Joseph Arshad, in a statement, said Pakistan Day reminds the nation of the golden principles of unity, faith and discipline, which can enable the country to effectively face national challenges if followed in their true spirit.
In his message on March 23, he offered special prayers for the security, progress and prosperity of the country, stating that the day renews awareness of national goals and collective responsibilities.
The archbishop emphasised the need to promote national unity, peace and interfaith harmony, adding that all segments of society must play their role in building a strong and stable Pakistan.
He noted that in the current circumstances, unity and consensus are key strengths through which the nation can overcome challenges.
Highlighting the importance of interfaith harmony, he said it is essential to promote respect, tolerance and brotherhood among followers of different religions to ensure social cohesion and stability.
He also paid tribute to the armed forces of Pakistan for their sacrifices in defending the country’s borders, saying the nation will always remember the bravery and dedication of its soldiers.
He added that the country remains secure due to their unmatched sacrifices, allowing citizens to live in freedom.
Separately, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said unity, discipline and unwavering faith remain the true guarantees of national progress.
Highlighting the government’s priorities, the minister said building a strong and healthy Pakistan is at the top of the agenda.
He underscored the need to move forward in accordance with the vision of Quaid-i-Azam, stressing that collective efforts are essential for the country’s development and stability.
He reiterated that every citizen must play their role in strengthening Pakistan and ensuring its prosperity. Concluding his message, the minister congratulated the nation on Pakistan Day, adding that success can only be achieved through unity.
