LAKKI MARWAT: A flag staff meeting attended by the police authorities from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Punjab discussed matters pertaining to the security and law and order in the border areas with special focus on the safety of the CPEC route.
The meeting held at the Darra Tang point was attended by the regional police officer Bannu, Sajjad Khan, the Sargodha regional police officer, Muhammad Shezad, Lakki Marwat deputy commissioner Hameedullah Khan and DPO Nazir Khan, DI Khan DPO Sahibzada Sajjad and Mianwali DPO Rai Muhammad Ajmal.
Before the meeting, the higher police authorities inspected border check posts and reviewed security of the CPEC route.
They met with policemen deployed at the posts in both the provinces and praised them for exhibiting professionalism and alertness in performing duties.
They also issued special instructions to the cops to further strength security measures and prevent inter-provincial smuggling.
At the meeting, the police officials from both the sides underlined the need for a close liaison and coordination to tackle security challenges effectively.
They said that joint efforts would be launched to eliminate the menace of terrorism in southern region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in the border areas. They agreed to improve coordination to counter security challenges effectively and improve the law and order in the border areas.
They also agreed to formulate a joint strategy to strengthen security of the CPEC route and curb inter-provincial smuggling and other crimes.
BIKE THIEF HELD: The cantonment police arrested a bike thief in injured condition after an exchange of fire in the Mamashkhel area of Bannu district on Sunday. A police official said that on August 10, an unknown thief had stolen the motorcycle owned by Noorullah Khan in the Sukari area.
He said that police traced the suspect with the help of close circuit television cameras and advanced technology and launched efforts for his arrest.
He said that the cops established a temporary checking point in the Mamashkhel area when they received credible information about the presence of the suspect there.
“An exchange of fire took place when the bike thief attacked the law enforcers at the checking point and was injured in retaliation by police”, he maintained.
The wounded suspect was identified as Muddassir, a resident of Khawjamad Mandan and the stolen motorcycle was seized from him.
“The injured suspect was shifted to the DHQ and a case was registered against him under relevant sections of the law”, he added.
