LAKKI MARWAT: Three terrorists were injured in an armed clash with police in the Sherikhel area of Lakki Marwat district on Saturday.
A police official said that the clash took place in the rural area when police conducted an operation after the target killing of a Frontier Corps official a day earlier. He said that the commandos of Elite Force backed by armoured personnel carriers also took part in the operation.
“During an intense exchange of fire, three terrorists were injured but they were taken away by their accomplices to the mountains,” the official claimed.
He said that a police van was also damaged in the crossfire.
In Karak, the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department commandos also launched a search and strike operation in the hilly area of Amankot in Terri town.
A police official said that the operation was conducted in the wake of Wednesday’s terrorist attack on a Federal Constabulary vehicle wherein three soldiers and their civilian driver were martyred.
“During the operation, the law enforcers destroyed the hideouts of terrorists in the mountainous area,” he claimed, adding that the anti-peace elements and their facilitators will be brought to justice at all costs.
The official said that the police were going after the terrorists in the hard and difficult mountainous terrain so as to purge the area of the menace and provide people with a safe and peaceful environment.
