LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Science (UVAS) syndicate on Thursday approved Rs4.435 billion budget for the financial year 2025-26 with focus on innovation, applied research, development, improving facilities for quality of education, services and transfer of technology.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Younus chaired the 77th syndicate meeting. Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairperson Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan also attended.
UVAS Treasurer Muhammad Umar presented the budget before the syndicate which included Rs3.051bn non-development income during the year 2025-26 while the university expects Rs 3.705bn non-development expenditure and there was a deficit of Rs654.192 million.
A sum of Rs730m was allocated for ongoing projects, including Rs550m for strengthening of Khan Bahadur Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmed (KBCMA) college and College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CVAS) Narowal campuses and Rs30m for strengthening of academic and allied facilities at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Jhang.
The syndicate also approved allocation of Rs150m for a new project titled “UVAS Campus, Pattoki” for financial year 2025-26.
The VC said the budget is focusing on applied research and development projects for further improving the quality of education, research and services at the campus.
He said Rs 2.110bn were expected to be generated by the university from its own sources.
About the deficit, he said the university will try to meet the budget deficit by generating more income from its own resources, by increasing its research-based products and diagnostic and clinical services for stakeholders.
