BAHAWALPUR: In another alleged police corruption scandal, Garha Mor police registered a case against their SHO and an ASI and also suspended them from service.

According to police spokesperson, SHO Irfan Ashraf and ASI Tabassum Ghaffar had allegedly received a sum of Rs120,000 from Basharat Hussain for registering his complaint of a dacoity.

Basharat had alleged that three men had deprived him of Rs300,000 on gunpoint.

However, Basharat complained that after receiving the bribe, the police officials registered a case of a quarrel under sections 341/34 and 337/34 of the PPC. He believed that the officials wanted to save the culprits.

On Basharat’s complaint, the Garha Mor police registered an FIR under sections 406, 161, 162, 164 and 155-C of the PPC against the two police officials on the orders of Vehari DPO Muhammad Afzal.

Both officials are yet to be arrested.

It may be mentioned here that Vehari police had yet to arrest two other police officials, including Tibba Sultanpur SHO, in a Rs2.1 million scam.

A lady constable along with her husband had already been arrested in the case a day earlier.
