SAHIWAL: Academic staff associations of Comsats University’s seven campuses have condemned “unprofessional and abusive” behaviour of Sahiwal campus head towards an official of the ASA.

Sahiwal ASA General Secretary Muzammil Hussain told Dawn he visited the director’s office to discuss a faculty concern regarding recent tax rebate to researchers and professors.

“During the meeting held on April 9, Dr Nazir A Zafar, acting director CUI Sahiwal campus, used offensive and dismissive language, denied me the opportunity to speak and instead asked campus security to forcibly remove me from the office.” He said Dr Zafar issued him a warning letter soon after the incident.

The ASAs of Sahiwal, Wah Cantt, Abbottabad, Attock, Vehari, Lahore and CUI unanimously passed resolutions demanding action and withdrawal of the warning letter issued to Muzammil Hussain. They demanded a thorough impartial inquiry into the incident by the CUI Rectorate.

Dr Nazir A. Zafer, in response to a Dawn inquiry, refuted allegations and said it was Mr Hussain who shouted at him and raised his voice in the meeting.
