NAROWAL: Two persons were shot dead in the Rehmatpur locality of Daska over suspicion of a relationship with a girl, according to a complaint filed by the father of one of the victims.

Mirza Muzammal Baig, a resident of Lodhi Town, Daska, told police that he was standing at a bus stand with his son, Mirza Talha, and a friend when Talha received a phone call and he suddenly boarded a rickshaw. Concerned by his son’s abrupt departure, Baig and his friend followed the rickshaw.

On reaching Rehmatpur, Baig alleged that suspect Ilyas opened fire on the rickshaw. Both Mirza Talha and the rickshaw driver, Mohammad Asim, sustained critical injuries and died on the spot. The suspect fled the scene while brandishing his weapon.

Baig claimed that his son was in a relationship with a girl ‘S’, who had called him to her home. He accused the girl and her father of luring his son into a trap.

City Daska police have registered a case under Section 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Baig.

Both bodies were taken into custody and shifted to tehsil headquarters hospital for postmortem examination and further legal procedures.

Sialkot District Police Officer Faisal Shahzad took notice of the incident and formed special teams under the supervision of the Daska DSP to ensure early arrest of the suspect.
