LAHORE: The Standing Committee of Cabinet on Law and Order on Friday reviewed security measures for the Champions Trophy cricket series and approved deployment of the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers personnel for security of the event.

The committee’s 22nd meeting presided over by Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique decided to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the sports event in line with the joint security audit report.

The committee also ordered foolproof security arrangements for the annual religious gathering in Raiwind.

Mr Rafique told the meeting that Pakistan’s economy depended on a peaceful environment in the country. He said the masses were also enjoying Horse and Cattle Show in a peaceful environment.

Earlier, Punjab Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal briefed the meeting about the law and order situation across the province.
