OKARA: A rickshaw carrying schoolchildren plunged into a canal on Wednesday at Pul Ghara near Hujra Shah Muqeem. However, all the children were rescued by locals and a Rescue 1122 team.

As per Rescue 1122 officials, a rickshaw picked up schoolchildren, aged between five and 12 years, from Dola Mustqeem village and was on way to their school.

The rickshaw plunged into a canal running along the road because of over speeding. However, locals and a Rescue 1122 team reaching the spot safely retrieved all the children from the canal.

The children were shifted to Hujra Shah Muqeem Rural Health Centre (RHC), where they are said to be stable.

Among the children included Iqra, Rehan, Rabiur Rehman and Dawood.

The rickshaw driver managed to escape from the spot.
