LAHORE: The Punjab caretaker government has decided to convert the Manawan Hospital into a specialised cancer treatment facility.
A meeting convened at the Manawan Hospital which was presided over by caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi reviewed the proceedings related to the establishment of the cancer hospital.
He inspected the designated site for the cancer hospital and the existing hospital building.
He said Punjab lacked a state-of-the-art cancer hospital, leaving many in a struggle for proper care. He said that it was the government’s duty to provide top-notch healthcare services to cancer patients.
He directed the authorities concerned for initiating the design of the cancer hospital and thorough planning for the procurement of essential machinery and equipment.
Meanwhile, in light of the prevailing smog conditions, the government has decided that educational institutions in Punjab will not observe a holiday on Wednesday this week.
During a meeting in this regard, it was unanimously agreed, based on an improvement in the air quality index, that Wednesday will not be declared a holiday.
