QUETTA: Two persons were killed in a landmine blast in the Barkhan area while five bodies were found in the Mach area of Kachhi and Quetta, on Tuesday.

Police said miscreants planted a landmine on Barkhan link road that went off when two persons stepped on it while passing through the area. “The bodies of both victims blew up and were beyond identification,” police said.

Soon after the blast police rushed to the site and shifted the remains of both victims to district hospital.

One of them was identified as Mado Khan through his ID card found at the blast site.

Meanwhile, five bodies were also recovered from the Mach area of Kachhi district and Quetta.

Police said that three bodies were found in the Kabooi area, a picnic point in the Mach area.

The bodies were shifted to Mach district hospital where two of them were identified as residents of Khaliqabad (Mangochar). The third body was yet to be identified.

“The bodies are not old and beyond recognition. Multiple bullet wounds were found on all the three bodies which caused their instant death,” police officials said quoting hospital sources, adding that an investigation has been started into the killings.

However, the police did not disclose the names of the victims.

Separately, two more bodies, including a child, were recovered from a drain in Manzoor Miadani area and Qambrani Road areas, two localities on the outskirts of provincial capital Quetta.

Police said the body of a young boy was found in a drain and was shifted to the Civil Hospital for identification.

The bodies were mutilated and could not be identified, police said, adding that the cause of death was not known so far.

The other body was recovered from a drain in the Kachhi Baig area of Qambrani Road. Police were investigating the incidents.
