PESHAWAR: A leopard of endangered species was allegedly poisoned to death by locals for attacking a herd of goats in Landi Kotal’s Shalman valley of the Khyber tribal district on Tuesday, wildlife department officials said.

According to them, signs on the leopard’s body showed that the animal might have been poisoned.

Earlier this year, two leopard cubs had died in Tirah valley of Khyber district for an unknown reason.

The wildlife department has taken the carcass of the leopard into custody and said those responsible for its death would be brought to justice.
