There was no issue of the newspaper on Aug 15, 1971, on account of the Independence Day holiday. The following excerpt has been taken from the previous day’s issue.

WASHINGTON: The State Department said yesterday [Aug 12] that about four million dollars worth of military supplies and spare parts could still be shipped to Pakistan despite the US arms embargo imposed last March. Spokesman Robert McCloskey said that the arms could be shipped under export licences issued to private suppliers before the suspension of new US arms aid was ordered. The continuing American arms supply to Pakistan has drawn criticism from some members of the Congress.

… A … Press release … quoted Mr McCloskey as saying “there has been no decision to curtail or limit military items previously contracted because those contracts were entered into in good faith”. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, news agencies add from Dacca,] Twenty-five Indian agents were killed by the Razakars of Terokhada Police Station in an incident on Aug 4 last, according to reports … [A] gang of Indian agents opened fire on a Razakar camp. The Razakars returned the fire and chased the Indian agents. The Indian agents fled leaving behind arms and ammunition… .
