EXPORTING STRAY DOGS: Lately, cases of dog-bite and stray dogs roaming the streets have made headlines across the country. The administration’s decisions regarding culling, vaccinating or neutering the unfettered dogs have also come under criticism from animal rights activists. A possible way out could be the export of stray dogs to countries where dog-meat consumption is a matter of routine. We can earn foreign exchange in the process.

FEMINISM MISCONCEPTION: There are a lot of myths and misconceptions about feminism in Pakistan. Many people perceive it to be an anti-men movement run by a group of angry women. Feminism simply demands equal rights for all, especially women. Another common myth is that only women can be feminists, which, again, is not true. A feminist is anyone who supports the rights and equality of genders and wants to eradicate oppression.

GORAKH HILL ROAD: Millions of rupees are allocated each year for the development of Gorakh Hill, but only a small fraction of the amount is utilised. Roads around the hill station have been in a terrible state, causing accidents. There are no facilities for tourists that make their trip comfortable and memorable. A new road from Wahi Pandhi to Gorakh Hill, which was built with funds worth millions of rupees, got washed away in a single spell of torrential rain. The government seems least interested in boosting tourism in the province.

PRICE HIKE: I recently bought a kilogram of potatoes for Rs80. When I asked about the rate list, the shopkeeper said he had not received it yet. I checked the prices on the ‘Qeemat Punjab app’ which showed the official price to be Rs65. But the shopkeeper argued that he had himself bought it for Rs70 from the main market!
