BAJAUR: The provincial government has enforced the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Alternative Dispute Resolution Act, 2020, in Bajaur and five other merged districts for settlement of disputes through the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) system.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section-1 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Alternative Dispute Resolution Act, 2020, (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) Act No. XLVIII of 2020, the Home and Tribal Affairs Department, government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is pleased to appoint May 5, 2021 as commencing date for the enforcement of Act ibid to the South Waziristan, Kurram, Orakzai, Khyber, Mohmand and Bajaur tribal districts,” said a notification issued by the home and tribal affairs department on Friday.

According to the notification, a copy of which is available with this correspondent, subsequently, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (3) of rule 1 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Alternative Dispute Resolution Rules, the home department has fixed 21-05, 2021, as initiation date for the enforcement of the Rules ibid to the six tribal districts.

A senior official of Bajaur district administration confirmed that they had received the notification, advising them to inform the local residents about implementation of the law.

Elders welcome decision

Meanwhile, elders of various areas of the district welcomed the enforcement of ADR in the merged districts.

Talking to this correspondent, they said that introduction of alternative dispute resolution mechanism in the region was their longstanding demand as it was vital to provide legal option to the residents to resolve their issues outside courts.

SPORTS COMPLEX: The district administration has expressed its anger over use of substandard material in the under-construction sports complex in Larkholozo area of Mamond tehsil and warned the contractor to ensure use of quality material or get ready for legal action.

The directive was issued by additional deputy commissioner (finance and planning) Sohail Aziz during his visit to the construction site, sources in the district administration told this correspondent.

They said that the relevant contractor on the occasion assured the official to construct the project as per its PC-I.
