VEHARI: A 10-year-old schoolgirl was mauled by a dog in the school at village Luddan, about 30km from here on Tuesday.

Amina Shaheen, a student of Class IV at the Govt Girls Primary School Luddan, was drinking water outside her classroom when a dog entered the school and attacked her. She received dog bites at her face and leg. She was taken to the Rural Health Centre, Luddan, for treatment.

Misbah Rafi que, the district officer education (female), told Dawn Amina had been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Vehari due to critical wounds and she had been vaccinated. She said an inquiry into the incident had been launched. She admitted that the majority of primary schools were without security guards in the district. Misbah said the head of Amina’s school had been suspended due to negligence.
