GUJRANWALA: PML-J chief Hamid Nasir Chattha’s son Ahmad Chattha announced joining the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in the presence of Imran Khan and expressed determination to defeat the PML-N in by-election in NA-101, Wazirabad, on March 22.

The PTI has nominated him as its candidate from the constituency. However, Hamid Nasir Chattha did not announce joining the party.

Addressing a meeting at the outhouse of the Chattha family in their native village Ahmadnagar, PTI chief Imran Khan appreciated Hamir Nasir Chattha for his long association with the PML-J, saying that manifestos of the PML-J and PTI were same.

He expressed the hope that Ahmad Chattha would play an active role for implementing the PTI manifesto and assured the Chatthas that Ahmad would be given proper place in the party.

Jahangir Tareen, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chaudhry Sarwar also accompanied Imran Khan.

Meanwhile, several people and children were injured when the PTI workers restored to baton-charge against them during distribution of lunch boxes and eatables after the meeting.

PTI nominates him for NA-101

On the other hand, the electioneering for the by-election in NA-101 Wazirabad took an interesting turn when the PTI’s former nominee Adnan Sarwar Cheema joined the PML-N along with his associates and announced support for the PML-N’s likely candidate former MNA retired Justice Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema.

The sources said PML-N had again given the party ticket to its aspirant Mr Cheema.

It said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s son Hamza Shahbaz called angry leaders of party MPA Shauket Manzoor Cheema, Saif Ali Chattha, Akram Chattha and Nawazish Ali Cheema to Lahore and mediated between them and the party nominee Mr Cheema.

Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema’s brother former director general health Punjab Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema and Imtiaz Bagri, an aspirant for district council chairman, accompanied them.

HANGING: A murder convict would be hanged in Central Jail on Friday (today) after the district and sessions judge issued his death warrant.

According to the prosecution, Shahzad Ahmad had killed a woman Razia in the Kamoki Sdadar area some 15 years ago.
