KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has issued the Sindh Local Government (third amendment) Ordinance, 2016 through which hurdles in holding elections on reserved seats have been removed and which will help in completion of the local government system in the province.

The ordinance which will be effective immediately has amended the Sindh Local Government Act, 2013. According to the amendment, the reserved seats in the local government institution will be 33 per cent for women, five per cent for youths, five per cent for labourers/peasants and five per cent for non-Muslims and the elections on the reserved seats will be held according to the elections rules.
