KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday issued the election schedule for the third phase of local government election to be held on Dec 3 in Karachi division.

According to the schedule, polling will be conducted on Dec 3 if polling date is not advanced by the ECP due to the Chehlum of Imam Hussain on the day.

In the third phase, the LG elections would be held in six districts of Karachi division — West, East, South, Central, Korangi and Malir.

According to the election schedule, candidates can file their nomination papers with the returning officers from Oct 3 to Oct 7 and their scrutiny would be held from Oct 8-13.

The appeals against acceptance and rejection of the nomination papers could be filed by Oct 30 and the same would be decided by Nov 5. The candidates could withdraw from the race by Nov 6 and the final list of candidates would be issued on Nov 7.

Polling would be held on Dec 3.
