FO condemns North Waziristan drone attack

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Wednesday condemned the latest US drone strike that took place in North Waziristan late on Tuesday.

At least 17 people were killed and two others injured in the drone attack which targeted a house in North Waziristan’s Miramshah town late on Tuesday night.

Hours after the strike, the Foreign Office issued a statement saying drone strikes were a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, adding that Pakistan has repeatedly emphasised the importance of bringing an immediate end to these.

The government “has consistently maintained that drone strikes are counter-productive, entail loss of innocent civilian lives and have human rights and humanitarian implications”, the statement said.

It further said that the attacks had a negative impact on the “mutual desire” of both countries to forge “a cordial and cooperative relationship and to ensure peace and stability in the region”.

WOW! they continue to kill innocent Pakistanis & our foreign office continue to condemn their action. Is this some sort of a race.....You drone us & we condemn you. Pakistan should move UN. File a court case in world court, just condemning is an invitation to continue your act.

As usual empty words spoken by the Pakistani official. Where was the PAF when sovernity was compromised? Pakistan should have missile launchers sited near the border and shoot down ANYONE who voilates pakistan sovernity.

O Come on, I dont know for how long our nation will continue to be fooled like this, Just two months ago all the praties were saying they will stop drone strikes, Pakistan has the right military hardware and airforce to stop these attacks if they ever wanted to. This is just a sham.

Can we not shoot these damn things down! We need more anti-aircraft and low flying anti-air defense systems. The Iranians and even the Serbians have figured out ways. Russians also have a system in place to take these drones out. We need to invest in these equipment. Im pretty sure once we start shooting down a few dozen of them the cost to send them out will spiral out of control. Also, why arent we using drones against the militant hideouts in Afghanistan and in India?? Should fight fire with fire!

Enough is enough! Condemnation is not enough. Time for our Government to respond. Here are some of the options; A final warning should be issued- next drone will be downed Withdraw the invitation to Mr Kerry Declare we will not co - operate with the Americans in their planned withdrawal from Afghanistan The drone attacks Must Stop and Now. No self respecting leadership will accept infringement of its sovereignty Mr Priminister taken action
