It has been rightly said that truth is stranger than fiction, and sometimes it becomes real hard to separate fact from fantasy. Yes, we are talking about one of the enigmas, the ‘Hollow Earth’ theory today.
According to this theory, hundreds of miles beneath our Earth’s surface there are hollow spaces which are in layers of more hollow spaces, yet even lower which are all inhabited by human-like beings.
We have some very interesting ideas supporting this theory which might be, if nothing, some food for thought, at least.
Edmond Halley, best known for discovering Halley’s Comet, was of the opinion that Earth was indeed a world of subterranean inhabitants just like it was populated on the top. His hypothesis was that the magnetic field around Earth varies and that there were many magnetic fields and one of them came from within the sphere. The inner earth also had its own sun, but dimmer than ours and that Aurora Borealis was a result of gases that escaped from within Earth, through openings that were at the North and South Poles.
His idea was later supported by other researchers of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and it was proposed that though inner earth lays hundreds of miles deep, the openings at the Poles and some other places are not that deep and it is possible to approach there through those openings.
The Hollow Earth theory is also mentioned in most ancient religions of the world and it is believed that there are catacombs under the pyramids of Egypt and some other pyramids found around the world, which had access to these worlds.
In 1846, in Siberia, a woolly mammoth was found frozen and preserved so perfectly in ice that the pinecones it had fed on were not even fully digested. The proponents of the theory argued that this and other extinct creatures on our Earth’s surface are thriving underneath. And that the mammoth had wandered unknowingly through those openings.
Furthermore, Marshall Gardner, author of A Journey to the Earth’s Interior and Have the Poles Really Been Reached, supports the assumption based on the law of centrifugal force; the Earth was a spinning mass of matter. The outer layer warmed by spinning around the inner axis and the inner layer hardened and was warmed by the spinning core. Also, the effect of gravity could pull people or even a ship into the inner earth.
The most interesting account to date seems to be of Admiral Richard E. Byrd. In 1947, while flying his fleet over the North Pole, Byrd was able to enter the inner earth. He saw many wonders and is said to have met the people living underneath.
According to him, they seemed an advanced species but peaceful and said that they meant us no harm and had allowed him to enter because they were concerned about the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the World War. They allegedly said that such acts would not only endanger humans above but also their own civilisation underneath.
Around the same time, Lt. Commander David Bunger was flying inland from Shackleton Ice Shelf near the Queen Mary Coast of Wilkes Land, approximately four miles from the coastline where open water lies. He and his crew saw ice-free lakes of different colours, such as rusty red, green and deep blue. He noticed the water was warmer than the ocean when he landed his plane on one of the beaches of the lakes. He was surprised to find an oasis in the middle of the Antarctic where it was supposed to have nothing but ice. Thus, an indication of warm currents from the inner earth reaching the surface, otherwise one cannot explain the presence of such strange warmer territory in the middle of the continent Antarctica.
There are other interesting observations made by explorers of the Arctic region as well, such as the temperatures rise as they travel further to the North and their compass needle remained horizontal instead of vertical or straight. Also, animals and birds were seen travelling further to the North instead of South to get warmth and food. All this could mean that the opening at the North Pole was warmer from within.
It is claimed that there are openings to the world beneath through subterranean tunnel systems that go through most parts of our world including one in Tibet, Peru, Egypt, Mount Shasta in the US, etc., so what is the real truth? Is it a fact or a myth? The answer lies deep, under many layers, hidden hundreds of miles from the world above.
