SWABI, May 8: Four people, including a woman and young boy, were killed and six others were injured in a road accident, late on Saturday night, said police on Sunday.

A pick-up (3636-Peshawar) on its way to Mardan overturned at Adina bridge on Swabi-Mardan road after driver lost control over the steering due to over-speed.

The injured were taken to the nearby hospital in Kalu Khan. Three people were killed on the spot while the fourth one succumbed to injuries while on way to hospital.

The dead were identified as nine-year-old Mohammad Fayyaz and his father Mohammad Sadiq, Shahmshad Begum and Saqib Shah. The injured were: Sanaullah Khan, Ghaniur Rehman, Mohammad Kashif and others. PROTEST:

The residents of Shahmansoor on Sunday held a protest demonstration against appointment of ANP, PPP-affiliated persons on the posts of peons in the Bacha Khan Medical Complex and ignoring those who had given land for the hospital.

The people gathered at Shahmansoor and marched to the hospital while chanting slogans against the ANP government and the local parliamentarians for not paying heed to their demands.

They alleged that majority of the peon posts were occupied by the ANP and PPP affiliated people.

The protesters warned that if their demands were not met they would lock the hospital and block the Swabi-Jehangira road.

The people of Shahmansoor also constituted a committee to press for their demands.

District Health Officer, Dr Gul Mohammad, who visited the protesters assured them that he would send a report about their concerns to the director-general health, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and other officials and politicians.

Dr Gul informed this correspondent that there were a total of 60 posts of peons in the hospital and a number of them were yet to be filled. LOADSHEDDING:

Residents of Tordher blocked the Swabi-Jahangira road against the excessive power outages on Sunday.

The protesters were led by Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf leader Abdul Rashid and other prominent figures of the area. They gathered in the Tordher bazaar and marched from there to Swabi-Jahangira road while chanting slogans against the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco).

The protesters warned that they should not be compelled to attack the Pesco office like the previous year when the protesting people had set the record on fire. They said that as the summer was becoming severe the duration of unscheduled loadshedding was being increased.

They said the electricity supply remained suspended for about 18 hours due to which they could neither sleep nor work accordingly. They said the ANP leaders who had promised to end loadshedding and ensure smooth power supply had failed to keep their word when elected to power.
