LAHORE, Feb 11: Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday directed the Punjab government to produce complete record of the Lahore Press Club Housing Society by March 2.

The judge issued this order while hearing a writ petition challenging planned conversion of the area demarcated for a park in the housing scheme into a residential area and its allotment to new members of the Lahore Press Club.

At the previous hearing, the judge through a stay order had restrained the government from converting the park area into a residential one. The judge also extended the stay order till March 2.

Din Muhammad Dard, a council member of the Lahore Press Club, filed the petition against conversion of the park into a residential area. He said the authorities concerned disturbed master plan of the housing society in violation of the law.

He pleaded that park land could not be used for any other purpose. Musharraf's trial: The Lahore High Court on Friday, hearing a fresh petition for trial of former president Gen Pervez Musharraf (retired) under Article 6, directed a deputy attorney general to file comments on behalf of the federal government by Feb 15.

Advocate Muhammad Jamil Rana of Gujranwala filed the petition contending that the government was not taking any step to get Musharraf tried for committing high treason by abrogating the Constitution and ruling the country illegally.

He alleged the federal government was using delaying tactics in holding the trial of the former dictator only to favour him.

The petitioner-lawyer sought court directions for the government to start proceedings for holding trial of Musharraf under Article 6.

Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar Husain, after hearing the initial arguments, sought a reply from the government.
