KOHAT, Dec 9: The death toll in the suicide attack on a bus stand in Teerah bazaar has risen to 19 after a woman who was seriously injured in the blast died on Thursday, sources said.

The bus stand was attacked early last year as well. Two people were killed in that attack, which took place on Jan 1, 2009.

Meanwhile, Kohat Commissioner Khalid Khan Umerzai said on Thursday there was no need to deploy army in the area because the civilian administration had already beefed up security measures.

“I appeal to extremist elements to lay down their arms and to stop killing innocent people because all of us have to live in the country which can no longer afford internal strife,” he said. —Correspondent
