SANGHAR, May 7: A no-confidence resolution was passed against District Nazim Roshan Din Junejo on Friday. Total 69 members attended the session out of which 64 took part in voting.
The voting started at 4:11pm after Juma prayers. Members cast their votes throught a secret ballot and a polling booth was established in a corner of the district council hall. The counting started at 7:30pm.
On this occasion, the police had cordoned the entire district council building and no outsider was allowed inside except members, journalists and employees. A member, Jahangir Junejo, who is nephew of Roshan Junejo boycotted the voting while a woman member, Bachan, voted openly due to her old age.
There are 84 members of the district council out of which two seats are vacant. In the morning session the resolution was debated and members levelled allegations of corruption, nepotism and inefficiency against the Nazim.
Total 62 members voted against the district Nazim. There was only one vote in his favour while one ballot paper was found blank.
