Woman dies in gas blast

GUJAR KHAN: A woman died, and another, along with her three children, was critically injured in a gas-leak explosion in a house located in a village near the Gujar Khan town.

The blast also damaged four adjoining houses.

According to Syed Danial Aziz, ASP of Gujar Khan, the blast occurred early in the morning in the Thaakra village, 20km south of Gujar Khan. Rescue officials reached the spot and found the victims buried under the debris of the collapsed roofs of houses.

The ASP said Naureen, 24, daughter of Ali Ahmed, died on the spot, while Uzma, wife of Faisal, and her three children sustained serious burn injuries and were shifted to the burn centre in Kharian. The general manager of SNGPL Rawalpindi region said teams had been dispatched to the site.
