MITHI: The body of Chief Medical Officer at the Mithi Civil Hospital Dr Abdul Karim Shaikh was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a noose around his neck at his official residence on Saturday.
Dr Shaikh had been under immense mental stress due to allegation of sexual harassment levelled against him by a male nurse of the hospital, Manthar Bheel.
An inquiry conducted recently by senior doctors of the hospital had, however, found the allegation unfounded. It was ascertained that Bheel had resorted to levelling the allegation after Dr Shaikh chided him for his unacceptable and unprofessional attitude towards the doctor and patients.
According to the voice messages and letters purportedly sent by Dr Shaikh to the inspector general of police and some Mithi-based journalists on Saturday, the deceased took the extreme step due to the immense mental stress. The alleged suicide note read: “I am committing suicide due to a conspiracy hatched by Manthar Bheel, Dr Harish Jagani, Dr Mohan Lal, Dr Abdul Malik Nohrio and others who have made my life miserable”.
Meanwhile, the body of Dr Shaikh was sent to his hometown in Larkana after medico-legal formalities.
