TAXILA: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi on Tuesday reaffirmed the government’s resolve to prepare Pakistan’s youth for the rapidly evolving global marketplace by equipping them with advanced skills, modern education and the capacity to meet contemporary challenges.

He was addressing 46th convocation of COMSATS University (CUI), Wah Campus on Tuesday,

He said that the Ministry of Science and Technology would continue to fully support universities in raising academic standards, |fostering innovation and strengthening the country’s research ecosystem.

“The future of Pakistan rests in the hands of young, visionary individuals who lead with integrity, purpose and a commitment to excellence,” he remarked.

Urging students to remain focused and relentless in their pursuit of knowledge, Magsi called on them to transform their aspirations into meaningful action. Speaking on women’s participation in national development, he highlighted that only 16 percent of Pakistani women join STEM fields, whereas NUST has achieved a notable 30 percent female representation among its graduates.

He stressed that Pakistan’s progress is intrinsically tied to women’s active involvement in the workforce.

Magsi said Pakistan is moving forward, but lasting development demands the contribution of every segment of society.

He urged the youth to serve with honesty and dedication, noting that a nation’s real strength lies in the character, unity and resolve of its people.

Earlier, as many as 655graduates from undergraduate and graduate programs across multiple disciplines, including computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, management sciences and mathematics were conferred degrees.

The ceremony also recognised academic excellence, with 34 students receiving gold, silver and bronze medals at institute and campus levels, while 17 scholars were awarded PhD degrees in computer science, electrical engineering and management sciences.

In his address Rector of COMSATS University Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar advised the graduates to stay prepared for rapid technological advancements and to equip themselves for future challenges while contributing to the country’s economic development.
