ISLAMABAD: Aqeel Khan and Muzammil Murtaza won their respective semi-finals of the Pakistan Independence Day National Ranking Tennis Tournament here at the PTF Tennis Complex on Wednesday.

Veteran player Aqeel beat Yousuf Khalil 7-6(5), 6-2 while Muzammil outclassed Barkatullah 6-2, 6-3.

In the women’s singles semi-finals, Sheeza Sajid defeated Soha Ali 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 while Ushna Suhail got a walkover against Noor Malik who could not play due to an injury.

A total of 110 players across nine categories (men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, boys 18 & under, girls 18 & under, boys 14 & under, girls 14 & under, boys 12 & under and girls 12 & under) are participating in the event.
