SUKKUR: The Consumer Protection Court, Sukkur, remanded on Saturday a suspect, who was arrested by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency in Karachi a day before, in the agency’s custody for five days.

The suspect identified as Bashir alias Junaid Jani faced charges of extortion, blackmailing and spreading obscenity on social media. He was arrested following a complaint filed by Saboor Memon, a resident of Shikarpur, with the agency.

The complaint leveled serious allegations of blackmail, extortion and spread of obscenity via social media on the suspect, who was caught during a raid in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Karachi, a day before and brought to Sukkur.

Man’s body taken out of canal

Body of 24-year-old Babar Ali Jaffery, who had drowned in Rice Canal a day before, was taken out of the canal at city bypass on Saturday. Police said that they handed over the body to Edhi Centre where the bereaved family identified it and took it away. The family brought the body to their native village in Lakhidar taluka, Shikarpur, for burial.
