KASUR: Police on Sunday arrested three bakery workers on charge of killing their employer over a monetary issue and their colleague for trying to save the victim.

The action was taken after two bodies of the owner and a worker of the bakery at Sultan Shah locality were recovered from a room of the bakery.

The victims were slaughtered with a sharp-edged weapon and put in the room.

On getting information, the B-Division police broke open the lock and recovered the bodies. According to police, the bodies were 24 hours old.

The victims were later identified as Khalil Ahmed, the owner of the bakery, and Shahzaib, his worker. Police shifted the bodies to the district headquarters hospital.

Police arrested three bakery workers, namely Shabbir, Abbas and Umar, on suspicion of their involvement in the crime.

According to the initial investigation, the three suspects had killed the owner for demanding Rs150,000 they had takenfrom him.

They had got the money as advance payment. Police said the suspects killed their colleague, Shahzaib, because he tried to save the owner.

ACCIDENT: A man died while nine suffered injuries as their van plunged into a water channel on the Depalpur Road in the limits of Khudian Police Station.

According to Rescue 1122, the van, driven by Amir, was on its way from Ellahabad to Kasur. When its front tyre burst, the driver lost control of his vehicle and it hit a loader-rickshaw before falling into a water channel.

As a result, Sajid, 28, died on the spot while nine others, including Amber, 23, Meena, 32, Iqra, 17, Salma, 20, Neelam, 50, Seema, 42, Sarfraz, 17, Misbah, 42, and Kashif, 4, suffered injuries.

The injured were shifted to the DHQ Hospital.

DROWNING: A farmer drowned while rescuing a woman who had jumped into the BRB Canal to kill herself near village Ganda Singh.

According to Rescue 1122 , a woman, later identified as Esha, 22, had jumped into the canal to end her life.

When Imran Shah, 40, a farmer, saw the woman drowning, he jumped into the canal to rescue her. But both of them drowned.

The rescuers took out the bodies of Esha and Shah from the canal and shifted them to hospital. Police were also looking into the matter.
