ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek-i-Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP), a coalition of six opposition parties formed last year, formalised its organisational structure on Wednesday, declaring blanket support for all anti-government protests.

The announcement was made as its new office-bearers were announced by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, at a press conference along with other TTAP leaders.

According to him, Mehmood Khan Achakzai has been appointed as TTAP chairman, with PTI’s Asad Qaiser as the secretary general. Raja Nasir Abbas of the Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen the vice-chairman, whereas Sunni Ittehad Council head Sahibzada Hamid Raza will perform duties as the information secretary of the alliance.

Besides, Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai has been made its official spokesperson. Mr Raja said that former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and BNP-M chief Akhtar Mengal would also play an active role in the alliance.

Mr Achakzai said the TTAP would support all agitations against the government, adding that they would stand by the traders presently protesting against recent tax measures and powers given to the FBR.
